Post-op!

Not much to report. The surgery went okay! It took me a long time to come off the anesthesology (that is defintely not how you spell that!) Despite getting out of surgery around 12-1 I was in danger of closing the place down at 430 when my nurse finally sat me up in a chair and stuck a soda in my hand. Turns out I will actually nap ANYWHERE :)

Just like most of my other surgeries, things were pretty bad the first night, but have gotten a lot better. I did get up on Saturday night and yell at Dave. I thought that I had heard the front screen door open and close. And the dogs were barking. So I thought that maybe Dave had gone out to the front yard to see what all the commotion was. But he was dead asleep- he didnt hear a peep!

But, I took Nico to school today! So I think things are going well... Although I had forgotten how much it sucks to be on crutches. Will be glad to be off them.

Dancing Man!

A video from this weekend. Nico dancing to the swing band.

Seriously, could he be anymore adorable?

Other than that, not much going on. I have been staying up pretty late the last couple of nights trying to get some things done around the house. Am looking forward to my long nap on Friday. Seriously... it seems like they usually ask that I report for surgery at 6am, but dont get around to me till 10am... there have been times where I have dozed off and woken up post-op. Like I take a nap and they dont bother to wake me to tell me it's go time. They just give me the good stuff, slice and dice and BOOM into recovery.

So I am signing off for a while. IDK when surgery will be tomorrow. I may have time to post before I go in. But maybe I wont. Catch you on the flip side.

Surgery

Not much going on around here.  Trying to finish up some analyses for the latest paper.  I'd like to be able to move on to writing this weekend, while I am recovering from my ankle surgery, that I mentioned HERE.... NICOLE!!  That is of course, if I can stay awake for longer than 15 minutes at a time.  Dave's got sort of a bum shoulder at this point, so his soccer days are on hiatus right now.  You know what that means, don't you?  Me sitting with my feet on the couch, bossing everyone around.  OMG!!  I really am my mother's daughter!! Ha! Ha!  Isn't that funny?

I think we may have to dramatically change how we do bed time in our house... as it is now, I seem to be the only one with the magic that can get Nico to sleep.  I dont know if I am going to be able to get him to sleep whilst sitting in a chair and then stand up and hop him over to his crib.  Maybe this will just mean that when Nico goes to bed, I should go to bed too... and just get him to fall asleep in our bed.  This might also mean that I start sleeping 9-10 hours a night.  SCORE!!  This sounds like just the plan I need...

Weekend WIN!

So, we had a really amazing weekend.
We got kind of a late start out of town on Friday night.  We didnt get on the road till almost 730, leaving for Mexico Beach which was about 2 hours and 15 minutes west (out near Panama City).  We were headed to one of Dave's coworkers' wedding (Ruth was marrying Bill).  Nico was a peach in the car.  We arrived at the El Governor Hotel in Mexico Beach and got checked in... we were on the second floor... with our balcony door open, we fell asleep listening to the sound of waves on the beach.  It was awesome.

Saturday morning, Nico and Dave went to get some breakfast, while I slept in.  When they got back, we got dressed and headed to the ceremony.  Ruth and Bill rented a beach house that was a stone's throw from our hotel.  They had the ceremony on the beach at about 11 am- followed by mimosas and brunch.  Afterwards, we headed back to the hotel, where the three of us caught a nap, sleeping for almost 3 hours!!  Dave and Nico went down to the beach and the pool to do some swims for a couple of hours.  Nico LOVES swimming.  In the pool he kept trying to get away from Dave and didnt seem to be bothered AT ALL when he dunked "his own self" under.  I know... how awesome, right?

When they came back up to the hotel, we got ready and headed back down the beach for the reception.  Ruth and Bill had a pig roast and Tallahassee swing.  Nico had a pretty fun time listening to the band and dancing.  I took my big camera and shot lots of pictures of the sunset (experimenting with different settings).  This one of Dave and Nico is one of my favorite.

But I also really like this one!  Too bad that dress really is too informal to wear to work... it was really comfortable!!

Nico ended up falling asleep at the end of the night.  It was nice listening to the band and the waves, sitting in a chair out on the beach while Nico snuggled up and fell asleep on me.  Have decided that I must get a job that will either allow us to live full time at the beach.  Or one that will allow us to vacation at the beach a month or two out of the year.  And I am not talking about Miami living at the beach... I am talking about living on the beach.  Like if I fell out of my balcony, it would be okay, because I would land in a sand dune live at the beach.

This thought was cemented by our drive home on Sunday.  Since I had never been to Seaside or Grayton Beach, we took a spin through there.  Side note, Seaside is so upscale that they have a gourmet grilled cheese sandwhich food truck.  The cheese aint no American cheese food... think gouda.  Think provolone.  Think goat cheese.  I know, right?

We stopped for lunch at one of Dave's favorite places to eat (The Red Bar in Grayton Beach).  I had a pretty good gumbo and about half of Nico's grilled cheese, which was, probably the best I have ever had.  We walked down to the water, whcih was completely different than it had been in Mexico Beach.  Deep thick sand that was the texture of finr sugar.  Like whoa.  We made it back in town by about 6pm on Sunday.  It was pretty fun.

And, I almost forgot!  I was voted Coach of the Year for the All-Area Big Bend Girls Soccer team.  So that was exciting news I got on Sunday morning!!

Nico Soccer Man

Really looking forward to the weekend.  Nico is looking forward to going swimming in the ocean.  He claims to remember the last time were at the beach... I am not sure I believe him :)

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Funs!

Hi all... sorry to be so lame of late.  I have a sort of biggish project that I am working on at work which is consuming much of my break times at work (which is when I usually blog).  The tournament went well this weekend.  In fact this is how well it went:

This is Kelly the Baller celebrating a goal.  We lost on Saturday 3-1 and I did not appear to be the one jacking up anyone's flow.  So that is good.  Plus the win on Sunday wherein Kelly went on a tear and we won 4-1.

Dave and Nico had all sorts of fun while I was gone.  They found a Bluegrass Festival to go to and basically just had a good time going to parks and hanging around the house, without Mom making them do chores and take baths!!

Not much else to report.  Hoping the week goes quickly, as we are headed to Mexico Beach for a Wedding!  Woo hoo!!

The Week's End...

So- its been a fun but crazy week.

Mom is in town- she has been hanging out with Nico during the day, while I am at work. She's been wearing him out... doing chores, playing, singing, dancing, playing soccer, doing art, being silly, watering the garden. Yeah... I think he likes it!

Dont have time to write much. I did want to show a photo that my mom painted for me for Christmas. Its of a photo from the shoot with Jake back in August. Isn't it awesome?

Its hanging on the wall of my office. I have had lots of compliments on it!!

The Weekend

The weekend... is never long enough.

We had a pretty good weekend around here. Saturday morning, I went to campus where I worked on a paper and cleaned up my office- in preparation for MASSIVE productivity in the next month (trying to bang out a paper). While I was there, Dave and Nico went to the pet store to get some wet dog food for the boys and some treats. Nico loves going to the pet store- where there are birds and fish and people even bring their dogs. Speaking of fish... am contemplating getting a fish tank for Nico's room (a small one).

His bed time routine is changing a little and I think he is outgrowing being rocked to sleep. Am wondering if he'd be easier going to bed if there was a fish tank with a small light somewhere he could see it. Of course, it would have to be EXTREMELY low maintainence. Cause I can barely keep his room clean as it is...

Saturday afternoon, we went up to the Sears in Thomasville where we bought a king sized mattress. We know a guy. It was a pretty good deal... gotta order the box springs now (its a california king, so it needs a special box spring).

Sunday morning we cleaned up the house a little. It was still looking good from the Easter Brunch clean. Mama Bishop was coming into town, so we had to get things sorted out. Then I went to play in a scrimmage while Nico tried the floor routine:

Isn't he adorable?

I managed to back into the water pipe at practice and broke it and had to help fix it. BTW, I hate being responsible for dumb stuff like that... because then I have to fix it!! Boooo!!! I did save a penalty kick in the scrimmage. Of course, I also caused the penalty kick... sad face.

That is about all that is going on around here. Mom Bishop got into town on Sunday afternoon and things have been pretty uneventful. They hung out yesterday and did lots of stuff: walked around in the back yard, did some reading, some painting, some dancing. I think he is having a good time.
