OFF. THE. CHAIN.

We had a great weekend!!

It didn't start off so hot, though.  Nico and I were doing laundry in the laundry room when he face-planted on the floor, cutting his lip.  I dont know what it is, but it seems like he is regressing with balance and walking... I thought he might have an ear infection (that can affect balance) but his ears dont seem to bother him.  He also looks like he is getting a little thinner, so maybe he has just gone through a growth spurt.  I don't know.

In any case, we went to the downtown get-down on Friday and had some delicious street food.  Nico and I shared some fried oysters and fries (he likes them!) Then on Saturday we went down to Wakulla for practice.  It was pretty warm out so we did a drive-by of Wakulla Springs, where the water was cold.  Nice.  I wasn't really swimming- mostly just hanging out with Nico. Given the hard time he has had with the walking, he lost his balance and ended up dunking himself under the water.  He was in water that was about knee-deep for us, so he couldn't really touch the ground.  I think he kind of scared himself- but he didnt cry.  It was strange.

We went by the frozen yogurt place on Thomasville on the way home.  BTW- does anyone else have these frozen yogurt places where it's all self-serve?  Milka-what?  Yeah... its pretty awesome.  Tallahassee has two... For Nico and me, that usually means lots of fruit and a few white chocolate chips.  We usually get one that is 60 percent fruit and the little Fruititarian gobbles it all up.

He is also going through a very independent streak.  Like he wants to feed himself... which is great... unless your parents have just ordered a blueberry crepe breakfast at IHOP.  Yeah... little homey was out of control on Sunday at breakfast.  Didn't want to sit in the highchair... wanted to feed "his own self"... consequently, we made a huge mess... Yes... we were those people.  Then he continued being a Beast for the rest of the day for Dave while I went to school and worked.

When I got home we went to get groceries, during which he was a peach... and we had dinner... during which he was fine.  But then when it was time for bed.... OFF THE CHAIN.  For real.  WOULD. NOT. GO. TO SLEEP.  What is strange is that he looked like he was tired... yawning... rubbing his eyes and he face... but just had a hard time getting comfortable and settling.  Oh, and my unwillingness to do sleep training up to this point has bitten us in the butt... because guess who thinks its funny to get up and bounce in his crib when he is supposed to be sleeping?  Yeah... at one point last night, I got so tired of trying to get him to go to sleep, I just put him in his crib and sat next to it...which he thought was good... for him to get up and start throwing all of the stuff out of the crib... and started bouncing in it.  Sleep=FAIL!

However, that said, he has been staying asleep for most of the night lately... it's rare that he wakes up before 630...So... who knows?  Maybe he's all weird because we started practice this week?

Speaking of which... if there are any people in the 850 that would like to have dinner with Nico and me, we are going down to El Jalisco's tonight for dinner in Crawfordville.  The WHS girls soccer team is doing a fundraiser down there... so you should come... and have a burrito or a chimachanga or something... I promise that we will have lotz of Nico cutez!!

All for now.  Have a wonderful day!!

  1. if he is wearing shoes all day at the daycare, it might throw his balance off a little if he's bare foot, or in nico's case, bear feet. have fun tonight.
